The second expansion for developer Zachtronics’ sandbox puzzler Infinifactory has been released with the new mini-campaign entitled Production Zone 1. New mechanics have been added with the theme of “extruded inputs”, which introduces lasers, new custom blocks, and Test Zone X.
Lasers have been added as another way to destroy blocks, giving the ability to destroy every block in front of it when any of it’s ports receive a sensor signal.
Test Zone X may look like any other part of the game, but don’t be fooled, the cargo containers that it contains are all full of factory blocks.
“Test Zone X is a sandbox designed for creating factories that create factories. Maybe those factories go on to create factories of their own,” explained the designers.
This brings a multitude of new building ideas to the game and the developers are excited to see what players have in store.
Five new custom puzzle blocks have been added to the the custom puzzle editor along with the teleporter block from the first update of the game. Developers have also made it so the area-select tool can be used through the puzzle editor, rather than just being available in the block menu.
The puzzler is still in the early access stage, meaning that the developers are in the process of creating the game. This allows fans the opportunity to give their feedback on the game so far and to make suggestions as to what they would like to see in the game, some of which may be implemented into the final product.
The first update of the game, The Heist, was released in March 2015.
Infinifactory is available for purchase through Steam for $24.99 and can be bought for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
