Sega seems to be pulling a page out of its old marketing playbook, as the video game developer has begun to spread images of Puyo Puyo blobs and Tetris blocks through its Steam community forums, leading to speculation that a desktop version of Puyo Puyo Tetris is on the horizon.

Posted by a user named “SEGA DEV,” they are of ASCII art images of the puzzle game pieces from the two games. The images began popping up throughout the day, accompanied by only a title that names the puzzle piece and without a comment from the poster. SEGA DEV’s user image is the white Sega logo against a royal blue background, making a rather direct link to the company.

Puyo Puyo Tetris Community Posts Sightings

Sega has previously used viral marketing strategies with some of its other recent game releases, bringing many to the conclusion that an official Puyo Puyo Tetris will be coming soon. Other than the image teasers, Sega hasn’t made any additional indications to a release date or which desktop operating systems it’ll be bringing the puzzle game to.

Puyo Puyo Tetris was launched in Japan on Feb. 2014 for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. Sega went on to launch the puzzle game on Nintendo Switch on April 25, 2017.
