The journey is in the home stretch for the launch of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy, and developer Level-5 has released a new trailer
Coming 10 years after the series debuted with Professor Layton and the Curious Village, this latest entry will offer the largest collection of puzzles and have a change in how the narrative is done. In the past the story has focused on one puzzling mystery, this time around Level-5 is saying that “many smaller mysteries [will be] woven into an intriguing overall plot.”
Developers have also included ways to change Katrielle’s outfits, customization for the look of the Layton Detective agency, and several mini-games will also be included.
This Professor Layton outing will be the first of the mainline series to be developed as a mobile first title, with Level-5 saying it was built “from the ground up for mobile devices” and calling it “the most accessible game in the Professor Layton series yet.”
It’s set to feature Professor Layton’s daughter Katrielle, who like her father, is a skilled puzzle solver. She’ll be joined by her dog Sherl as they set out to solve mysteries and discover the whereabouts of the missing Professor.
Layton’s Mystery Journey will launch on July 20 for Android and iOS, selling at $15.99. The puzzle game will see a Japanese release on Nintendo’s 3DS on the same day, “early autumn” is what the developer has listed to when the Professor Layton title will make it North American 3DS markets.
