Fireproof Games announced that The Room: Old Sins will be the next title coming from the beloved puzzle game series, and it’ll be landing on mobile devices “late 2017.”
Details are few at this stage, but one interesting detail is Fireproof’s deviation of the numbering system and adoption of a subtitle, choosing Old Sins instead of The Room 4. Changes like these to a well known franchise are often symbolic, suggesting that there may be a break from the main story of The Room series.
What we know so far directly comes from The Room: Old Sins game description:
“The sudden disappearance of an ambitious engineer and his high-society wife provokes the hunt for a precious artefact. The trail leads to the attic of their deserted home, and the discovery of an old, peculiar dollhouse…Experience The Room: Old Sins and explore unsettling locations, follow obscure clues and manipulate bizarre artefacts on a journey into the world behind the veil.”
With the lead up to release, Fireproof likes to give teaser updates and this release is no exception, with the developer promising screenshots “later in March.”
Previous titles from the series debuted at $4.99, it’s reasonable to expect the developer to match that price point.
Fireproof Games will be showing off a playable demo of The Room: Old Sins at EGX Rezzed expo in London, held March 31 – April 1.
