Development Continues On The Room 3, New Images Released
As development continues into mid-summer for The Room 3, next chapter in the H.P. Lovecraft inspired puzzler, developer Fireproof Games has released a pair of new images to tide players until the game’s debut.
Both images are dark and foreboding, evocative of the Lovecraftian world in which the game’s story takes place. The first screenshot is of a never-before-seen ornate puzzle box, sitting on a table with what seems to be a control panel in front of it. The second is of a bell tower, filled with three bells, as moonlight floods through the cathedral windows.
With these teasers, developers are taking care to sympathize with the community’s patience with the release delays.
“[We] understand it’s a pain having to wait,” lamented Fireproof Games. “[But] the iterative nature of game development (plus the fact that we’re really, really picky) does mean that unfortunately sometimes things take longer than we initially expect, so please bear with us in this last stretch of development.”
The Room 3 had originally been planned to be released in the Spring of this year, but was delayed so that the development team could spend more time with the puzzler. Designers released several screenshots from the game in April in a similar move hoping to satiate puzzlers’ appetites when they announced that the title would be delayed.
Fireproof Games still maintains that the next title from the series now will be out in Summer 2015, but goes on to state “[we] don’t really want to try and pluck a release date out of thin air.”
The last official day of summer is Sept. 22 in the U.S., so designers still have time on their hands to add some good old fashioned elbow grease to the game. From what Fireproof games is saying things are heading in a good direction for the last leg of development.
“The Room Three is shaping up very nicely; the puzzles are nearly complete with final artwork happening across the game, so we’re definitely getting there.”
Fireproof Games has said that the next chapter of The Room series will initially launch on the Apple’s App Store and will be “shortly followed by the Android release.”
